Info Post
European giants Chelsea and Real Madrid are considering a swap deal that would see the former land German midfielder Sami Khedira and the latter sign Petr Cech, according to The Express.

Chelsea have already expressed an interested in Khedira, and their hunt for the 27-year-old’s signature may be boosted by Madrid’s interest in goalkeeper Cech. The potential deal puts them ahead of Arsenal in the hunt for the German.

Cech, who has made 472 appearances for Chelsea, lost his place this season to Belgium number-one Thibaut Courtois, and is expected to replace the out-of-favour Iker Casillas in the Spanish capital.

Beneficial
The deal would be highly beneficial to both parties, as Jose Mourinho would have a greater depth of options to choose from in midfield, while Madrid would have landed a replacement for Casillas – who is expected to leave the Bernabeu.

However, some suggest that the chances of Carlo Ancelotti landing the Chelsea-favourite are unlikely. The ex-Chelsea boss will now be considering a loan move for the goalkeeper, with a view to a permanent deal.
Khedira, meanwhile, has expressed a desire to leave Madrid. His future became increasingly uncertain as the summer months went by, but he remained at the club. However, the midfielder is now expected to leave in January.

If the deal goes ahead, Arsenal appear to have lined up Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote as their Plan B; but they will do whatever they can to prevent Chelsea’s swap deal from going ahead.

Loyal
Cech has been a loyal servant to the Chelsea cause over the past decade, but after losing his place in the first-team, you can perhaps understand why he may want to move on.

Even sitting on the bench he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the League, so would be first-choice at most other clubs. Although I’d like to see Costa Rica’s Keylor Navas get more game-time at Madrid, Cech would have no problem slotting into the number-one jersey.

Chelsea fans would be sad to see Cech go, but they have a more than capable replacement in 22-year-old Courtois – and for many years.

Besides the Czech Republic international, Real Madrid have also been linked with Manchester United shot-stopper David De Gea.
